Padre’s Shooting Star

Padre’s Shooting Star is a species of perennial herb named and best known for its striking inch-long nodding flowers that range from magenta or deep lavender to white. They bloom in spring atop 1 ft. high stems and basal clumps of leaves. After the rains cease, they die back to the ground for a period of dormancy at the end of spring.

Generally found in open grassy areas with slow-draining clay soil.
