Valley Popcorn Flower
This cheerful, small annual wildflower can grow with a spreading or erect form up to 60 cm tall. It gets its name from the small popcorn-like flowers that bloom in abundance from March to May.
This species is endemic to California and is commonly spotted during spring bloom events in valley, foothill, desert, canyon, and coastal habitats throughout central and southern California (especially on slopes).
In the garden, this little gem likes full sun, and can last all spring without supplemental water as long as it gets plenty of water during the winter rainy season. It pairs beautifully with a mixture of grasses and other flowering annuals!
