Desert Penstemon

Desert penstemon is a perenial herb that grows 1 – 3.3 ft. tall x 3 ft. wide. Its striking tubular pink flowers put on a dazzling show throughout the spring.

Though native to hot, arid locations in the Mojave Desert, this species is adaptable to much of California and is tolerant of garden conditions with plenty of sun and fast draining rocky or sandy soil.

Add to bird gardens, hummingbird gardens, butterfly gardens, or bee gardens for a burst of color and attractive nectar. Deadhead after blooms are spent to induce additional flower, and sprinkle dried seed heads for birds to eat and more blooms the next year!
