Pine Hill Flannelbush
Pine Hill Flannelbush is a rare and endangered subspecies of Fremontodendron californicum. It is the smallest of the Fremontia, reaching only 3.3 ft. tall with a low, mounding growth form. It is an evergreen shrub with small apricot orange to yellow flowers that bloom from April to July.
This species is extremely drought tolerant, (often growing in dry, sandy washes in Central California) which lends well to the California native garden. It’s attractive flowers are a favorite among bees.
Note: these plants were not grown from wild collected seed, and we strongly discourage the collection of seed from wild populations as this species is rare and listed as federally endangered.
