Pacific Bleeding-Heart
Pacific bleeding-heart is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows to up to 1.5 ft. tall and 3 ft. wide. This plant self-seeds readily and spreads via tubers.
Named for the purple to pink to white heart-shaped flowers that bloom in clusters at the top of bare stems from mid-spring to autumn, with peak flowering in spring. It often goes dormant for a period in the summer after flowering, emerging and blooming again in autumn.
The foliage is also very attractive with leaves that resemble fern fronds or poppies.
Plant in moist areas with rich soil. In warmer areas in its range, this plant prefers shade. In cooler areas in its range, it prefers some sun.
