Brown dogwood
This attractive deciduous shrub can grow to 10′ in moist shade, or 4′ in drier conditions. It has spectacular brown stems, bright green leaves, and creamy white flower clusters. More compact and tidy than other native dogwoods, this is an excellent choice for fall color in the garden. Plant in the shade and next to or in a stream for best results.
Each spring it gives a nice show with flowers, and in the fall the leaves turn a bright red. In the garden it becomes a very refined looking bush that is covered with flowers.
Brown dogwood is fast to establish in well-watered habitats, and the attractive foliage attracts a wide variety of wildlife.
