Bodega Morning Glory
This rare California endemic species grows trailing stems 3 – 6 ft. long. Like other morning glories, it has heart shaped leaves, and large funnel shaped white/pink/purple flowers that bloom throughout spring, summer, and fall. It also produces a large, fleshy, underground storage organ known as a caudex, which allows it to survive during periods of drought.
Found in coastal scrub habitats and rocky cliffs, where it can climb onto other plants or scramble over rocks. Its population has been severely impacted by habitat loss and degradation, and competition from invasive species. Seeds for these plants were collected with permission from a restoration project site.
