Woodland Brome

Woodland Brome (also know as Chinook Brome) is a perennial bunch grass that reaches up to 5 ft. tall and has a graceful weeping form. Open arrays of flattened spikelets form the cream to brown colored flower clusters in spring and summer, with lower spikelets drooping or nodding to create it’s elegant arches.

This species is a warm season grass, so it is drought tolerant and semi-deciduous in winter. Woodland Brome does not have rhizomes, so it spreads minimally.

This grass is a larval host for several species of skipper butterflies, so it is a wonderful addition to partially shaded areas of pollinator gardens and pairs beautifully with a mix of flowering perennials.
