Tufted hairgrass
This pretty perennial bunchgrass grass grows 2’h x 2’w. Beautiful when covered with dew in the morning. A superb ornamental forms a mound of about 18″, from which its flowers rise to about 2′. Much valued for its neat, dark, evergreen foliage & for the cloud-like quality of its flowering stalks that can grow to 3’ tall forming golden, billowy masses of the finest hair-like texture. Especially fabulous when massed.
Requires regular summer water to thrive. In a moist spot, sun or light shade, it will reward you with delicate tawny golden seed heads in late summer & graceful, bright green foliage the rest of the year. Good choice under native oaks as it tolerates a fair amount of shade.
