Dark Star Lilac (seed)

Ceanothus ‘Dark Star’ (seed) is a compact fast growing shrub growing to about 6 feet tall by 8 feet wide. This Cenaothus impressus hybrid  is composed of small, rough-textured dark green leaves and dark cobalt-blue flower clusters that appear in Spring.

It thrives in coastal gardens but is not recommended for inland valleys.

Cultivars such as this are horticultural selections and hybrids, not part of the native ecology but work beautifully in the garden. We grow ours from seed collected off of a Ceanothus ‘Dark Star’ in our garden, so they are subject to genetic variation and are therefore not the true ‘Dark Star’ cultivar.
