Gairdner’s Yampah
Gairdner’s Yampah is a perennial herb that reaches 4-5 ft. tall, with umbels of spherical clusters of small white flowers that bloom in the spring.
Like our other native yampah (Perideridia kellogii) this species is an important larval host plant for anise swallowtail butterflies. Although this plant prefers full sun, we recommend planting it in partial afternoon shade so that any caterpillars on them do not get too hot!
It is the perfect addition to butterfly gardens and meadow gardens! To create a thoughtful butterfly habitat, plant with a mixture of annuals and perennials so the adult butterflies have plenty of nectar sources accessible while they are breeding.
