Hoaryleaf Ceanothus

Hoaryleaf Ceanothus is an erect, spreading, evergreen shrub that grows 5 – 14 ft. tall and 5 – 10 ft. wide. Its small, dense, rounded clusters of tiny white flowers (that may have a yellowish or pink tint) bloom in the early spring, attracting butterflies and bees with their plentiful nectar and pollen.

In the garden, this species supports a variety of wildlife and is useful for bank stabilization. It prefers low moisture and a granular, well drained soil such as decomposed granite.

Hoaryleaf Ceanothus pairs beautifully with bush poppy, toyon, yerba santa, and hollyleaf cherry.
