Snowdrop Ceanothus

Snowbrush Ceanothus is an evergreen tree/shrub with a lovely upright mounding habit. It grows moderately fast, 6-12 ft. tall and wide. Tolerates cold to 5° F.

It is named for its plentiful clusters of white flowers that pop against the characteristic shiny green aromatic ceantohus leaves from early spring to midsummer.

Snowbrush Ceanothus is a wonderful option for hedges, bank stabilization, and bird/butterfly/bee gardens.

Like other Ceanothus species, it is a host plant of the Spring Azure, Echo Blue, Pacuvius Duskywing, CA Tortoiseshell, Pale Swallowtail, and Hedgerow Hairstreak butterflies.

Historical Uses

Karok peoples use the leaves as a deodorant., Modesse take an infusion of the leaves for coughs and fevers., Okanagan-Colville use decoctions of plant tops with leaves as a cleansing solution for sweathouse ceremonies, as a hair wash for dandruff, and for bathing to condition the skin, Poultices and smoke from dried leaves also have many uses.
